ComfortDelGro offers accident and Covid-19 insurance for Passengers in Singapore via its phone app.
Singapore – ComfortDelGro Taxi launched its first-ever paid insurance scheme providing passengers with personal accidents and Covid 19 insurance in Singapore with their policy underwritten by HL Assurance.
ComfortDelGro’s latest insurance product is called ComfortProtect. This is exclusively available for passengers who used ComfortRIDE, the taxi operator’s fixed fare booking service. Passengers can activate the policy via the ComfortDelGro Taxi Booking App.
ComfortProtect provides ComfortRIDE passengers coverage for Personal Accidents such as death or permanent total disability of up $50,000 for 24 hours starting at the time they board a Comfort or CityCab taxi. The passengers are covered at a premium of 30 cents.
The plan offers taxi passengers a $500 cash payout for those who have taken the COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test and tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days from the date of the ride.
In addition, ComfortProtect provides coverage to passengers that were hospitalised to receive in-patient treatment for a consecutive period of at least three days after testing positive for COVID-19.
And, this is how to get started with ComfortProtect:
- Start by launching tapping the “ComfortProtect” icon on the App’s main page;
- Tap on the “Activate Insurance”:
- Fill in and verify the electronic form;
- Select first the pick-up address and destination and choose ComfortRIDE.
For payment, choose from one of the in-app cashless payment methods, excluding Cabcharge. And finally, the premium amount of 30 cents will be automatically added to the final fare at the end of the trip.
A passenger who has not activated the ComfortProtect during booking can still do so during the ride by simply tapping the ‘Opt In” button in the App’s ComfortProtect banner.
Once the passengers activate the ComfortProtect, it will remain in force for all their subsequent ComfortRIDE trips until they deactivate it in the Booking App.
ComfortDelGro has said on 20 October that for a limited period, passengers who opt-in to their first ComfortProtect Policy will enjoy full insurance coverage for free.
Travelling with Added Protection
Mr. Ang Wei Neng, CEO of ComfortDelGro Taxi, hopes passengers will have added protection when travelling with ComfortDelGro taxis.
